SOA and ESB buzz...

SOA and ESB are the newest buzzwords in the industry for the same patterns that has existed for years in good architectures. Most businesses do not, and will never understand that. Yes, there are new technologies available for implementing them, but the patterns are the same.

We can't ignore the fact that businesses are now embracing these new ways of describing parts of good architecture. Actually I find it a blessing in disguise. Although I know neither are silver bullets, and both must be used in the proper context and within the scope to which they lend value, to me it is like any Patterns catalog. The market place has simply classified and named common patterns and made them available to the public.

At least I now stand a better chance of having the executive across the table understand what I am talking about if I am describing an architecture that includes SOA and ESB buzz words.
